NASCOM online Racing league Week of Aug 25-28 By: Justin Young
The NASCOM RLMtv Cup Series took on TEXAS Motor Speedway for their Aug 25th event. Jeff Blind managed to get the pole with a amazing lap of 27.782. 10 Drivers started and only 3 drivers managed to take the checkered at the end. Those 3 drivers are first place Jeff Blind, second Nick Philip, and rounding out the top three 1 lap down Mike Gaughan (Gaah-han). There were 5 cautions that came out Monday night for a total of 20 laps. Nick Philip was mostly dominant the entire race leading 103 laps out of 167. Almost half way into the season Mike Gaughan (Gaah-han) is still the current point’s leader but Jeff Blind is not to far away only 33 points back. This is Jeff Blind’s rookie season in the RLMtv Cup series and it’s possible for him to bring home the championship. Next week the Cup drivers try to take on Dover Int. Speedway. Good luck to all.
The NASCOM Nationwide Series Race was held only a few states over from Texas in Atlanta, Georgia. Where Justin Brooks took his first pole this season with a lap of 29.165. 24 Drivers took the green flag on the very warm Tuesday night, But only 12 would wind up finishing. The #9 of Brandt Beasley wound up only leading 8 laps but at the end he led the most important one as he took the checkered flag. The #25 of Alex Skiro would be the one to lead the most laps leading 43 out of 114. Alex had a very good night as his car was said to be perfect. The only problem he faced was his run at the end. He came up -0.08 short from beating Brandt to the line. Stephen Camin, Tyler Shifflett, and Justin Fuller round up your top five that night. 17 cautions took place as a result to 56 laps under caution. Stephen Camin tries to extend his lead on Tex Perry as he pulls 25 points in front of him. The only difference between these two drivers is that Tex Perry has brought home one win already this season and I’m sure he has a lot in store for Mr. Camin toward the end of the season. Just like the Cup series the Nationwide series will also be attending Dover Int. Speedway this coming up week on Sept 2, 2008.
The Truck Series returned this Wednesday at Daytona International Speedway for what was a very intense race for the checkered. Jeff Blind for the second time this week was sitting on the pole and led a total of 4 laps. Jeffs night ended toward the middle of the race as he was caught up in a wreck. Jeff seemed to just ride it out and try to miss all the wrecks but was unable to. Justin Fuller took first place and led the most laps which equals out to 35. Justin Fuller was able to dodge what he needed and make the right moves in order to stay up front and win. E Leach, B Beasly, John Gregorio, and Z Duff all finished in the top 5. There was 6 cautions containing 24 laps and an amazing 30 lead changes between 12 drivers. The driver standings are very tight in this series. Justin Fuller and Justin Young are tied for 4th place with only 46 points back and 1 point away from Justin Brooks who is 45 back. One race can change the standing dramatically. The High Speed Radio Modified took on Flemington Speedway yesterday. Only 10 driver took the green as this track can be a bit crazy at times. Justin Fuller gets the pole with a lap of 19.862. Justin Fuller for the second time this week led the most laps and took home the checkered. It looks like Justin Fuller and Jeff Blind are both on hot streaks. Mike Gaughan (Gaah-han) finished second holding off E. Leach the sub for Jeff Blind. Jeremy Stanley had an amazing run leading 21 laps but on the last restart unfortunately he spun his tires which almost ended his night. He wound up finishing in 4th place. Jeremy Stanley really need a good finish here because his 4th place finish drops him back 94 points behind the leader. Jeff Blind is currently leading the series and Mike Gaughan (Gaah-han) right behind only 5 points back. Next week the driver head out to ACE Speedway where Tex Perry holds the qualifying record and Jeremy Stanley holds the race record. Good luck to all drivers as you make you way deeper into the season. NASCOMonline is a NR2k3 racing league and invites all sim racers to join in the weekly races. Good luck to all the Drivers over at NASCOMonline.com in the weeks to come.
